The project administrator assists the project manager from the initial bidding of the project to the final close out. This person must have a good attention to detail, great organizational skills, and the desire to be part of a team environment. Some duties that the project administrator performs are writing up subcontracts, change orders, purchase orders, RFI’s, disbursing submittals, proposal packages, bid invites, and close out packages. This person must have excellent time management skills.
A college education is required. Any additional construction courses or real estate training is highly regarded.
The ability to communicate with the project manager, clients, and sub contractors is a vital part of this position. Communication is key to completing the job on time and on budget. Having knowledge about construction is a bonus because it helps with the understanding of each individual project.
A project administrator must be well versed in Microsoft Office. They must be comfortable learning new programs such as Bidmail and American Contractor.
