Edward J Slater, Jr, DBIA
Edward J. Slater, Jr. founded Slater Builders Inc. in 1993 after 11 years in commercial and industrial real estate with The Seeley Company. He started the company with his wife Liz, his brother Joe and his father Ed Sr. Slater Builders’ philosophy of business mirrored Ed Sr.’s — name and reputation come first.
Under Ed’s leadership, Slater Builders has since grown to be one of the most respected builders in Orange County, proudly serving such prestigious clients as:
The Irvine Company
John & Dorothy Shea Foundation
Archdiocese of Los Angeles
Diocese of Orange
C.J. Segerstrom and Sons
Ed is known for his ability to respond to projects requiring volatile change, challenge and creativity. He has seen large and small retail, commercial, educational campus, hospitality and industrial projects through pre-construction, ground-up, tenant improvements, tilt-up and renovation, while consistently exceeding the expectations of all stakeholders. It is Ed’s skillful management of these diverse services that has allowed Slater Builders to build long-term client relationships.
Outside of work, Ed is highly committed to the service of charity. He was past member and Chairman of the Board of Blind Children’s Learning Center of Orange County, chairman for Newport Harbor High School’s 2002 Tee-Off for Technology Golf Tournament, former board member and fundraising chairman for CHOC Hospital Padrinos. Ed is a past President of the Santa Ana Country Club. He is also active in his church and has been married to his wife Liz for over 29 years. They have three children: Jess, Ted and Hannah.
Ed received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton, and is a certified member of DBIA. Ed spends his Saturday mornings working on restoring a 1954 Chevy 5-window and in the afternoons driving his 1963 Chevy Nova.
