Gene Wilson, DBIA
Gene Wilson started at Slater Builders Inc. with over 32 years of experience in the construction industry. He began his career as a draftsman for an architectural firm, and then worked as an estimator and project manager for a large California developer. He has constructed over ten million square feet of concrete tilt-up. He also has experience with restaurants, hospitals, and commercial retail projects. Gene provides total project management from initial concept through final completion and occupancy.
While at Slater Builders Inc., Gene has lead our team in ground-up retail buildings for The Irvine Company, student housing, resident hall and parking structure buildings for Mount St. Mary’s College, shopping center re-imaging projects for Donahue Schriber and The Irvine Company, restaurants for Ruby’s, Islands, and Brinker International, to name a few. Gene is currently working with the Carmelite Sisters at Santa Teresita, re-imaging existing campus buildings and preparing to add new assisted living cottages and skilled nursing facilities.
Gene is attentive to determining the client’s needs and ensuring that each project is managed for quality, schedule, and cost. His attention to detail with each project has ensured smooth progress while meeting all project objectives.
Gene’s background encompasses diverse industry experience in the areas of government interface, planning bid packaging, estimating, scheduling, cost control, value engineering, contract negotiations and administration, client contract, and field supervision. Gene is a certified DBIA professional and has extensive experience in the design build delivery method.
Gene and his wife Holly, have been married for over 37 years and enjoy their family of four children and fourteen grandchildren. A close knit family is very important to Gene and his wife.
