Our expansion project for Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest features a new maintenance building that spans 5,834 square feet, providing crucial space for operations and maintenance. Next to this, an equipment building of 1,860 square feet was constructed to store various machinery and tools. We also introduced two distinct family estates: the West Family Estates, occupying 6,337 square feet, and the East Family Estates, covering 3,062 square feet.
Furthermore, the cemetery now includes two octagonal pedestals, each with 96 niches, along with a niche wall. To enhance accessibility, a switchback ramp was built, making it easier to navigate the expanded grounds. A 3,000-gallon fuel tank was installed to meet the operational needs of the facility, complemented by a necessary road extension to improve access and connectivity within the cemetery.
Beneath the surface, the expansion involved the installation of 1,533 crypts, comprising 90 family estates and 1,443 lawn crypts. Additionally, 1,800 linear feet of underground fire water lines were laid to ensure safety. A 780 linear foot section of 5-foot diameter reinforced concrete pipe was installed to link the cemetery’s drainage system with the city’s stormwater infrastructure, effectively managing water runoff. Stormwater containment systems were put in place to protect against flooding and ensure adequate drainage across the cemetery grounds. Lastly, a 2,000-gallon sewage containment tank was added.
